The SC as with all Lexus models, the engine is the strong silent type. At idle, it is almost totally silent. The transmission does not have E-shift, the manual shift feature found in the IS300. The reason that Lexus gave was that they wanted to have a ULEV (Ultra Low Emission Vehicle) rating for this car and that wasn't possible with a manual shift mode.
